I’m not sure if I have mentioned it, yet. Throughout this spring and summer I will be working on a 2011 calendar for the Pottawatomie County Humane Society. And I am so excited about all the ideas that people come up with for the calendar. Not only will it have great pictures of all the sweet souls that found homes through this rescue, it will also have some sweet features to plan your pets vaccinations and more.
So today I met with the owner of our first calendar model, Harvey. The guess is that he is some kind of a mix between a Boxer and St. Bernard. Super fun and happy is what I say he is. I just couldn’t wait to pull up this favorite picture right away and show it off to you guys. More are to come soon!

So I finally decided to decorate my office with a few doggy pictures. And the first one is Max, the super sweet English Bulldog. I was really excited to get my large print this week. Because the time when the only way to display beautiful photographs was in frames is so over! My favorite, very simple and very elegant option are mounted prints. This one, on 2mm styrene, is the thinnest mount you can do on this size (20″x30″). I hope I’ll be able to show you the bigger options, too. They are all beautiful and ready to hang up. To be honest, I hang the styrene prints with simple double sided power strips. Easy to hang, easy to remove and no holes in the wall.

Before I had to leave Germany again, I got to photograph this beautiful Hovawart. And I’m not only happy about that because Chili is a great model but also because she is of a breed that is not very well known over here in the states. Hovawarts are a german breed and are bred to be “estate guard dogs”. I knew that part, what I didn’t know was that their name actually means “estate guard dog”. (Gotta be some old german, cause I think I know the current german pretty well). Nowadays they have spread over other European countries but are still rare in the United States. Their colors are black and gold like Chili, all black and all blond. The blond version kind of reminds me of a golden retriever, but the real Hovawart fan will probably roll their eyes at this comparision
All I can say about the breed is what I have learned from Chili. She is super sweet and friendly and soooo soft! I could have cuddled with her forever. So here are a few album spreads of this beautiful girl.

Today, right before we leave Germany, I had a session with beautiful Hovawart Chili. I could not pass up the opportunity to photograph this cool and (in the states) rather unknown breed. Here is a sneak peek. More are to come as soon as I get back to the states, next week. Enjoy!

I have a confession to make:
I fell in love with Max. And that is a confession that my husband would like in writing. And here it is. But I better not tell him about this post ![]()
My husband has been wanting an english bulldog forever! He begged and pleaded, made puppy eyes and sent me cute picture of bulldog puppies. All I did was show him how unnaturally they are bred and tell him these creatures would not be alive without breeders.
Well, what can I say, I looked at Max and it made me (almost) forget all my prejudice. What a face! Max is 8 months old. I first met him when he was a baby, needless to say, he was even cuter. That happy face makes me melt and I set up a play date for him and my dogs tomorrow just to play with him again!
Anyway, so here are a few pictures of our session, yesterday!

On Monday I’ll be leaving for Germany. I’ll try to keep up the blogging, I also have at least one doggy shoot planned while I’m there, so stay tuned. But please don’t be sad if the regularity of my posts is going to lack a little. I promise to be back full force in the next year!
Happy Holidays everyone!

I had lots of fun yesterday with Lotus & Kennon and their mom. We met in the snow to make it our main prop for their christmas session. And despite of the dull weather that made me fear everything is melting away now, the doggies had a blast and were quite worn out, as I hear. After the sneakpeek on facebook, here are a few more of my favorites from that fun session.

Last weekend I spend an afternoon with Trixie, Max and their people. Trixie is the winner of the last Mutt Shots Contest. She is a two year old german short haired pointer and has more energy that you could imagine and so does her buddy Max, the english Cocker Spaniel. BUT that did not make it hard for me because both of them are sooooo well behaved! It was an absolute pleasure to spend the afternoon with you guys!
Part no. 3 of the past weekend had to be rescheduled, but no need to worry, Max the English Bulldog will still get his time to shine before Christmas. Stay tuned!
